Privacy Policy
Last updated August 2026
This policy explains what personal data beranek.site collects, why, and what you can do about it. The data controller is Jan Beránek, Za Strašnickou vozovnou 2428/20, 100 00 Prague, Czech Republic — [email protected].
What we collect
- Purchases. Checkout is operated by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record, which collects your name, email, billing address, country and payment details in order to take payment and issue an invoice. We never see or store your card number. From Paddle we receive your email address, country, the product bought and the transaction id.
- Licences. Our licence service stores your email address, your licence key, and for each activation an installation identifier, the hostname the app reports, and timestamps. This is what enforces the installation limit and lets you manage your own activations.
- Trials. Your email address, and the IP address the request came from — the latter only to rate-limit abuse.
- Email you send us. Whatever you write to us, kept while we deal with it and for our records.
- Website analytics — only if you agree. If you accept analytics cookies, PostHog records the pages you view, the links and buttons you interact with, and technical details your browser sends anyway: approximate location derived from your IP address (country and city, not the address itself), device type, screen size, browser, operating system and referring site. It also stores a random identifier so repeat visits can be recognised as the same browser. That identifier is not your name, and we do not link it to your purchase or licence records.
The apps themselves contain no analytics and no telemetry. That has not changed: nothing you do inside an app is reported anywhere. The analytics above exist only on this website, run only with your consent, and can be switched off again at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or any third party for their own purposes — not the analytics data, not anything else. It is used to work out which pages and features are worth improving, and for nothing else. There is no advertising and no cross-site tracking on this site.
Why we may use it, and on what basis
- To deliver and support what you bought, and to run the licence and trial system — performance of our contract with you.
- To limit installations, prevent trial abuse and protect against fraud — our legitimate interest in a working, non-abused product.
- To keep records of sales and tax — a legal obligation (largely discharged by Paddle as merchant of record).
- To understand how this website is used and improve it — your consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time. This is the only purpose that relies on consent, and it is the only one you can decline without losing anything: declining changes nothing about how the site or the apps work.
We do not send marketing email without your consent. Service email — your licence key, trial expiry, security or licensing notices — is part of the product, not marketing.
Cookies and similar technology
Nothing that needs your consent is loaded before you give it. Until you choose, PostHog is not downloaded and no analytics cookie exists. If you decline, none is ever set. If you accept and later change your mind, the identifiers already stored are cleared.
| What | Why | Needs consent? |
|---|---|---|
bs.consent (local storage) | Remembers the choice you made here, so you are not asked on every page. | No — it exists only to record your answer |
bs.px (cookie, 30 days) | The last prices Paddle quoted for your currency, so a price is on screen the moment a page loads and a change of seat count does not have to wait for the network. It holds a currency code and public catalog prices — no identifier, nothing about you. | No — it stores no identifier and is not used to recognise you |
| Paddle checkout cookies and local storage | Processing your payment and detecting card fraud, under Paddle’s privacy notice. Set only when you open the checkout. | No — strictly necessary to complete a purchase you asked for |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | A privacy-preserving bot check on the trial and key-recovery forms. It does not profile you across sites. | No — strictly necessary to stop abuse of those forms |
PostHog (ph_* cookies and local storage) | Product analytics: which pages and features get used, so they can be improved. | Yes — set only after you accept |
Who else processes your data
- Paddle.com Market Ltd — payments, tax and invoicing, as an independent controller and merchant of record.
- Cloudflare — hosting of the licence service, and bot protection on our forms.
- Resend — delivery of licence and service email.
- PostHog — website analytics, on its EU-hosted infrastructure, and only if you have accepted analytics cookies. It processes the data on our instructions and for no purpose of its own.
These providers may process data outside the EEA. Where they do, transfers rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Licence records are kept for as long as the licence exists, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep sales records. Trial records and rate-limiting data are kept only as long as they are useful for that purpose. Support email is deleted when it is no longer needed. Analytics data is kept for 12 months and then deleted. Withdrawing consent stops any further collection immediately.
Your rights
You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing stops collection immediately and clears the identifiers already stored in your browser. It is as easy to do as giving consent was, and costs you nothing on this site.
Under the GDPR you may also request access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. Note that erasing a licence record also revokes the licence — we will tell you before doing that. Billing records held by Paddle should be requested from Paddle directly.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Czech data protection authority, Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (uoou.gov.cz), or to the authority where you live.
Children
The apps are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
